Sage 50 2024 focuses on Sage HR integration. A NEW FREE Employee Self-Service feature is available to all Sage 50 customers with an active Payroll subscription.

Now, through a mobile app, your employees can:

  • Access Pay stubs
  • Access W-2's
  • Update their personal information

Tax Time 2023

As we mentioned in the September BBS Buzz, the IRS expanded electronic filing requirements for tax returns. Employers filing a total of a combination of 10 or more returns of any type, NOW must submit returns electronically instead of via paper filings. https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/new-electronic-filing-requirements-for-forms-w-2

 

What Do I Need to Know?

Looking back to “how we did it last year” is no longer an option.  We recommend taking a proactive approach. You should begin preparing for this e-file change well before the filing due date of January 31, 2024.

What are my options?


Option 1 "Fast & Efficient":

Sage offers an e-filing solution add-on that is easy, affordable and IRS compliant!

Aatrix with Sage 50 Federal and State eFiling and Reporting eliminates manual form creation and will save you time. You may select from over 330 federal and state forms for Unemployment, Withholdings, New Hire reports, W-2s and W-3s. - Much of your form will already be filled out for you by your Sage 50. Option 2 "Slow & Steady"

You can e-file your 1099 forms using the IRIS Taxpayer Portal and W-2 forms using Social Security’s Business Services Online

What Tax Forms Do I Need?

According to the IRS website you may print Copies 1, B, C, 2 (if applicable), and D (if applicable) of forms W-2, W-2AS, W-2GU, and W-2VI on plain white computer paper. Additionally, excluding copy A, Copy B and other copies of 1099 forms can be printed on plain white computer paper as well.

 

We will still be offering tax forms such as blank W-2's with backers, envelopes, 1099's, etc.
