Below is the letter we received from Sage:
Important update: Changes to your customers’ software
Dear Valued Partner:
As a Sage Partner, we would like to inform you that some of your customers are using older unsupported versions of Sage 50. To give your customers the best possible experience with Sage we would like to work with you to move your customers from older versions to the latest.
What are the benefits of the latest version?
Moving to the latest version will not disrupt your customers' everyday tasks and they will still be operating from the desktop solution they know and love. Not only that, but your customers will also:
Get support from a Sage Expert whenever they need it.
Stay up to date with the latest technology, features and more.
Protect their company’s data with critical security updates.
How does using an unsupported version affect your customers?
The version of Sage 50 some of your customers are using is not receiving the latest compliance updates and is utilizing an unsupported third-party component. One such example is the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol v1.0 and 1.1 of which new versions of Sage 50 no longer support due to security-related issues.
Sage 50 version 2020.1 and older still rely on this unsecure component. If your customers attempt to reinstall or reactivate these unsupported versions of Sage 50 after September 30, 2023, the software will generate an error that will prevent your customer from accessing it.
What do you need to do?
If your customers are on-plan, they are entitled to get the latest version by accessing the customer portal.
If your customers are not on an active plan, they have the following options:
Option 1: Purchase a subscription to the latest version of Sage 50, which includes auto renewing subscription fees.
Option 2: If your customers do not intend to upgrade, they must export their data before access to Sage 50 expires on September 30, 2023.
Warm regards,
Sage 50 Accounting Team
