Job Openings Drop as Workers Remain Scarce

It is that time of year when so many folks beat the heat and take a vacation. At JobMatch Assessment, we see the impact as fewer people assess for jobs in July and the first part of August. This year is no exception, though it is still better than last year at the same time.

 

Yet we have a hard time forecasting in the current environment. Two weeks ago, we shared a couple of articles on diverging job data. Now back from vacation, I’m catching up on the employment news, and little has changed.

 

The Wall Street Journal reports that job openings dipped in June, yet we still have too few looking for work. The article digs into anecdotes from a few companies trying to address the needs. There is still no consensus. 

 

So, what do you do? We suggest you plan better. Create or improve your succession plan. It may be some time before more workers are available. Organizations aren’t expanding due to supply chain constraints but aren’t planning layoffs.
